M4 By Deadly Games

What an awesome tank simulation! With M4 you don't need to learn a vast array of key strokes to command your M4 Sherman tank on the French/Belgium border in WWII. Included in the game is a set of headphones to help you hear the direct communications to your field tank from HQ, the weather center, and others in the field of battle. All commands are simple, as the tank commander, you click on the graphic element on screen to order movement, firing, loading, machine gun fire, pop through the tank's hatch to take a look around with your binoculars, and handle intercom communication with your driver, assistant driver, loader, and gunner. These guys (who you name) are always ready to offer advice, especially if enemy units are located.

This simulation has the true feel of M4s of that era , which were rather noisy and cumbersome. The communi- cations aspect is first rate, right down to the digitized speech and static on the various frequencies you must dial to ensure you know what's going on. A map overlay assists in determining where you're going to meet your orders. When it comes time to take out enemy units, the German vehicle identification chart included in the game manual sure comes in handy. It allows you to (hopefully) select the units most dangerous to your tank's integrity so you can take them out first. You're even shown how some of the units look at distances of up to 2,000 yards. When you fire, the noise is deafening. If you hit the enemy unit, your fellow tankers let you know it. however, just because a unit is hit doesn't mean it's disabled ... keep firing until someone lets you know it's dead and isn't going anywhere. Now focus your attention on the other, less dangerous, German units. M4 could certainly end up being one of the hottest tank sims ever to ride a Mac.
